Therapeutic and Recreational Horseback Riding at "Hava B'Giva" in Givat Harel

Horses have been utilized as a therapeutic aid as far back as the ancient Greeks. In WW II, equine therapy was used to treat casualties at Oxford Hospital. In recent years the field has received a tremendous boost in Israel and around the world, and has proved itself to be effective and efficient.

Hava B'Giva therapeutic ranch has amassed six years of experience in helping numerous children triumph over difficulties and overcome pain. We invite you to take advantage of our program with horses as a path to growth.

Daniel Bin Nun, the director of the Ranch, is himself a trained riding therapist and teacher of Western riding. There are daily sessions of both therapeutic and recreational riding, for adults and children aged five and up.

Therapeutic riding is suited to a wide range of children, suffering from different motoric and behavioral/emotional issues such as: behavioral difficulties, PDD, ADHD, low self-esteem, anxiety, phobias, etc.

The therapeutic program is designed to meet the needs of the individual child, always emphasizing the horse-therapist-client relationship.

Goals and program are set in conjunction with the parents based on a prior intake meeting, and by maintaining regular contact with the parents throughout the treatment.

The advantages of riding start with the horses' unconditional acceptance of the connection with the clients, enabling the riders to let go of pressures and develop a positive self-image.

Riding contributes to improved motor control, balance, good posture, coordination, increased attention span and concentration; all due to the rider's control over the horse. The resultant sense of accomplishment and enormous satisfaction strengthen their self-confidence and increase motivation to attempt new challenges.

In addition, therapeutic riding provides sensory and vestibular stimulation, which aid in the proper development of different motor functions.

The three-dimensional motion of the horse creates movement of the pelvis, shoulders, and the rider's entire body, in a manner similar to that of walking.

Therapeutic riding takes place at the Ranch on specially chosen horses which have been trained to work with children in an environment designed for therapy. The Ranch also has a covered corral which is used on cold winter and hot summer days. Each class is one-on-one with the client's personal therapist, usually on a weekly basis.

Contact the ranch with any questions at:  052-4511455, 02-9944811, 052-5501501 or by email at:   ‪dansybn@gmail.com.

Subsidies for therapeutic riding are available for those with complementary insurance plans from the various programs: Clalit Mushlam, Leumit, Meuchedet C, Maccabi. Health insurance refunds are available on an individual basis.
