Occupational Therapy

What is Occupational Therapy?

Identifying children who could benefit from evaluation by an Occupational Therapist

The following is a list of indications helpful in identifying children with difficulties.

•  When a number of indications from a single field or several fields appear, it is recommended that the child be referred for an Occupational Therapy evaluation.

•  Remember that every child has their own developmental pace, and therefore not every child will exactly meet the expectations for their age.

•  When a child appears to have a slight 'lag' but continues to progress, there is no need to rush for evaluation, unless a gap is growing or the child's development is lacking.

Remember that the evaluation process is long and there are waiting lists. If the child is in need of help or consultation, it is recommended to initiate the process through the HMO.
