Why is Physical Therapy important?

In order to achieve efficient and proper use of our skeletal and muscular systems (ability to function as appropriate for the level at nursery/pre-school/school age) the body is required to exhibit certain motor capabilities.

These capabilities are called 'milestones' and they are achieved in an ordered pattern from the first days of life.

When a delay in achieving these milestones occurs for whatever reason, the functioning of the child is lower than one would expect, which can have an effect on the development and strengthening of the musculature. As a result, there may be further influences on the function at later ages (pre-school/school).

In physical therapy the child receives counseling and exercises to overcome these difficulties.
